macPST is a native macOS application for viewing Microsoft Outlook PST files. Protecting your data is a core principle of how we build this app. This privacy policy transparently describes which data is processed when you use the app and this website.

2. Core principle: local processing

macPST is a fully local application. All PST files, emails, attachments, folder structures, and other contents are processed exclusively on your Mac. No such data is transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no cloud sync, no account, and no online feature that would cause the contents of your PST files to leave your device.

3. Data the app processes

3.1 PST files and their content

When you open a PST file in macPST, the app reads the file locally from your storage. This includes email content, senders, recipients, subjects, dates, attachments, and folder structures. This data is processed solely in your device's memory in order to display it within the app. It is not sent to any external server.

3.2 Local preferences

The app stores preferences such as recently opened files, window position, or display options using standard macOS mechanisms (e.g. UserDefaults). This data remains local on your device.

3.3 No telemetry, no analytics

macPST contains no tracking, analytics, or advertising SDKs. No usage statistics, device identifiers, or behavioral data are collected or transmitted.

3.4 No advertising, no ad tracking

The app does not display advertising and does not use advertising identifiers (IDFA).

4. macOS permissions

To open PST files, macPST uses the standard macOS system dialogs to request access to the files you select. No blanket file-system permissions are requested. Access is granted only to the files you choose to open.

5. App Store data practices (Privacy Nutrition Labels)

In line with Apple's App Store transparency requirements we declare:

macPST does not collect any personal data and does not perform any tracking.

6. Data processed by our website

6.1 Server logs

When you visit this website, our hosting provider processes technically necessary data (e.g. IP address, date and time of the request, requested URL, user agent). This data is used to deliver the website, ensure security, and prevent abuse. The number of downloads is determined from aggregated requests to the download URL; no cookies are set and no user profiles are created. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

6.2 Cookies

This website does not use any non-essential cookies and no tracking or analytics tools.

6.3 Fonts

The website loads the “Inter” font via Google Fonts. When the site loads, a connection to servers operated by Google LLC is established and your IP address may be processed. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. For details see Google's privacy policy.

7. Contacting us by email

If you contact us via email at [email protected], we will process your details (email address, name, content of your message) solely to respond to your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We retain your message only as long as needed to handle your request, or as required by statutory retention obligations.

8. Recipients of data

Your personal data is generally not transferred to third parties. The only exception is the hosting provider for this website, which processes data on our behalf (data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR).

9. Retention period

Personal data we receive in the course of contact requests is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose, or as required by statutory retention periods. Server logs are deleted or anonymised automatically after a short period.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction, or access by unauthorised persons. Our security measures are continuously improved in line with technological developments.

macPST is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy to reflect current legal requirements or changes in our services. The current version applies to your next visit.
